Birmingham Gardens Project

Rear granny flat with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and 1-car garage
A purpose-built granny flat delivered with long-term accessibility in mind

The Client's Vision

The clients wanted a rear granny flat that would initially provide space for their children, but ultimately serve as a long-term home for themselves. They envisioned a home designed to fully accommodate wheelchair access and support independent living in the years to come — without ever feeling clinical — while including high-end finishes throughout.

Our Role

We managed the full construction of the granny flat, ensuring accessibility and functionality were carefully integrated. From circulation and thresholds to underfloor heating, electric skylights, and air conditioning, we executed every detail to create a home that is both practical and stylish. We coordinated the project to ensure seamless delivery of all elements, including sustainable inclusions like a solar system, battery storage, and rainwater tank.

The Outcome

The finished granny flat delivers a thoughtful balance of comfort, practicality, and contemporary design. The dark external Monument Colourbond finish is softened with travertine paving and landscaped gardens. Internally, the home is warm, energy-efficient, and fully future-proofed for mobility needs, while the garage is both durable and functional.
